Preparing for Minnesota: Ice Skating Lessons

Taylor decided about two months ago that he really wanted to go ice skating and last week we finally made it happen. Turns out you can ice skate for $2 on Tuesday mornings and we conveniently don't have classes then. We bundled up and made our way to the ice arena and as soon as my skates touched the ice I realized that I had no idea how to ice skate. I can count the number of times I have put on ice skates on one hand and it sure showed. To add to the shame, I was getting lapped by one of the senior citizens on the ice.

Taylor did great though, he was a natural. I on the other hand tend to imagine all the possible ways I could hurt myself and paralyze myself with fear.

After about 30 minutes of coaxing Taylor got me to let go of the wall and his hand and move my feet. I caught on a bit and was able to do entire laps without grasping onto the wall in terror but I sure have a lot of practicing to do before I can skate like a true Minnesotan.
