Gala Glam

This spring, we were able to attend the JDRF Gala in Cincinnati. It was a beautiful event and all of the Jensen Kids and in-laws flew in for the festivities. My Parents were this year's Cincinnatian's of the Year because of their generour contributions in the past and strong ties they have in the community that lead to many more generous contributors to this awesome cause. As the honorees they were at the head table, spoke during the program about what the foundation meant to them and lead the fundraising that evening. The theme of the night was Oz, and the efforts of all those who planned the event did not go unnoticed. Everything about the event was spectacular, every detail was so well planned and the gala was a huge success.

We all were dressed up in our best attire (after many months of searching for the perfect dress) and headed downtown for a night of festivities. Included in the evening was a silent auction where we all had iTouches and were able to put in bids on a wide array of items that had been donated. Before the auction's deadline hit, we were ushered into the main hall to start dinner. We were all still pretty enthralled in our bids to ensure we got the items we wanted. Hayley and I ended up winning Surround Sound Speakers and an Ebilskiver pan.

The next portion of the evening was the live auction where we all had donation cards and could bid on some impressive packages that had been donated. I got my card out and bid on an on the field experience with the Reds where I could be there for batting practice. I was the first bid up and didn't bid after that-- it went for a nice wad of cash. It was amazing to see people's generosity. The evening was a great success and we raised a lot of funds for JDRF research. Mom and Dad rocked it with their speech!
