This Sunday, we woke up and went to church. It was great
seeing so many people—a lot of them recognized me and welcomed me and Hayley.
There was a new young couple that got married when we did and they were an
incredibly strong presence in the ward. It is amazing what one strong couple
can do in those small wards there. Matias was confirmed to be a priest and blessed the sacrament for the first time. It was so great to be there for that and support him/be excited for him!
After church, we walked back to the hotel and changed. We
snacked on some food and then headed out to find some members in the 274 barrio
where hna. Blanco, the elisaincins, monica caro, and azocars live. We couldn’t
find anyone at home, so we got hno. Azocar to help us make sure we were at the
right place. Hna. Blanco was indeed out of town, but we did find and visit the
Elisaincin family. They are awesome—He is so energetic and enthusiastic with
the gospel. The man reads everything he can get his hands on, and takes copious
notes on everything he reads. They are great. Their oldest son, Nico, wants to
go to BYU, so we talked about that for a bit.
After that, Hno. Azocar drove us out to Matias’s house where
we had a FHE and played the flour game. Matias was ordained to be a priest
today in church and blessed the sacrament. It also turns out he was going to
baptize his brother the following Saturday. He is doing well and is thinking of
going on a mission. It was good to talk to them about being strengths for each
other and helping each other get there. We ate little mini pizzas that Matias
made, and enjoyed visiting with their family. Matias is doing well, and I will
stay in contact with him to make sure he keeps doing well. We practiced baptisms and played the flour game-- a classic Elder Jensen game!
